Everyone - JW or not - is required by nature to make decisions on the basis of incomplete information, and we are 100% responsible for the decisions we make.
It doesn't seem fair. But since the rule applies to everybody, maybe it is.
Or maybe the guilt is meaningless. Maybe the idea of being 100% responsible for anything - good or bad - is an illusion.
I have a LOT of anger about the circumstances of my life. My parents were a couple of idiots who stumbled from one bad impulsive act to another.
When I really try to put myself in their places it seems almost like their bad choices were unavoidable, and I am only left with pity for both of them.

" this was re-hashed in the what is truth talk at the dc.
so i got to thinking about the wtbts's doctrine.

KwaZulu Natal ex Jw & friends
by LouBelle inright...so i was thinking that we need to shake up the kzn jw community .... because we can.
i'd like to know if there are any ex jw and friends on here that would like to join my mum and i.. the next big convention is going to be held on the 6-8th of september at the sharks rugby stadium.
we would like to organise 1) an undercover mission on the saturday - go into the assembly parking, maybe even hang around for an hour and then go about and put flyers on all the cars with regards to some biblical truths.

Pre-cleaning the district convention venue
by hoser inthis year as with every previous year a letter was read on how we can honor jehovah by helping to clean the stadium where the district convention is held.. does the watchtower get a break on the rent if the dubs do a major cleaning of the stadium?
sounds like slave labour to me.. .

Why won't JWs have "civilized" debates with home owners?
by ilikecheese init seems kind of crazy to go to someone's house touting your religion as truth and then not even defend your own beliefs.
why do jws stop the chat if someone just tries to calmly reason/debate with them?
i'm not talking about crazy preachers who start slamming bibles and yelling about how they need jesus or something.

Here's an abbreviated answer to your opening question from my historical perspective (your mileage may vary):
Long ago, back when Chuck Russell was still around and doing his jellyfish thing with all the babes, Chuckie was cheesed over the fact that he wasn't triumphing over his opponents in his once-famous "public Debates," so Chuck issued a general order to all his "Pilgrims" (salesmen) that it was a waste of time to debate religious foes.
One of Chuckie's boys, Joey "Da Judge" Rutherford, gets this smart idea in April 1915 and decides that he will ignore Chuck's standing order and go out to California to debate Baptist preacher J. H. Troy over four nights before an audience of 12,000. Rutherford got his ass kicked and when he returned to Brooklyn Bethel he found Chuck rather displeased with the mega-flop and Rutherford began the oblivion spiral. Then on Halloween Russell recieved his reward and Joey's friends in Bethel called him back to Bethel to stage his coup.
"Say 'Hello' to my little fr'ends" he is reported to have said as he pointed to his trousers.
